I love Thanksgiving. Not only do I love the time of year, the crisp clean air, the colorful explosion of foliage etc… but what the holiday means. For me it’s an introspective time during which I do a lot of soul searching and learn a lot about myself.

In today’s fast paced society in which we all, myself included, are always pressing to get ahead, climb the next mountain, slay the next dragon, we often forget to be thankful for what we already have. When I think about this, I think about how grateful I am for good friends, comfortable surroundings, and helpful neighbors. I’m thankful for the inspiration I get when I read stories about heroism in other peoples lives… I’m thankful for a personal relationship with someone whom I trust and love very much… I’m thankful for the freedom I have to pursue my dreams… Not too shabby! I realize what faulty thinking it is to be dissatisfied and complaining, and how much more healthy it is to be grateful and press on. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
