We are all so busy with our lives and spending time on social media we don’t often get the chance to just stop and breathe.
I pray you are as well as can be expected considering the times we are living in.
Fall is here and that means the holidays. I hope good things come from the quiet renewal time of the season. Perhaps we will all finally get that “thing” done that we were putting off… (whatever it is). Maybe we will read that book, listen to that podcast or finally subscribe to the uplifting youtube channel we’ve been meaning to.
I am so grateful to all of you who have been enjoying my latest music “Chill” and “Summer in the City”. It’s been a crazy and difficult year for everyone, and I am thankful to be able to continue doing what I love.
There is nothing better for an artist than to be appreciated for the kinds of musings that inspire them to create and that are in their heart and mind in the present.
As most of you know I am in the studio at the moment. I’m very excited to say I will have some wonderful new songs coming your way in 2022🌹
Here’s a poem called “Autumn”by Amy Booth (Age 10)
Look at the different coloured leaves,
Swaying gently with the breeze,
Lovely reds, browns and greens,
All waiting to fall from the trees.
When they leave they twist and turn,
Ready to join the masses of fern,
Landing softly on the ground,
You can taste the smell of autumn, all around.
That’s it for now
please remember to follow, subscribe and all that jazz
In celebration of the holidays, I just finished a brand new video!
Lets, talk about 2017, but first…. lets’s listen to a little more music shall we?
It’s been a tough year. We’ve had mass shootings, plane crashes, bombings, hurricanes, fires and to top it off we’ve lost so many notable people.Heres a link.
Of course as we get older this will unfortunately continue. We’ve had political turmoil and race problems……very tricky waters to navigate indeed. While I am not sure what 2018 will bring, I do know it will be a year of change.
My participation in all this is my music. To try and bring a respite…. a break…. sometimes nicely worded or sung, so as to nudge forward the togetherness I believe we are all after.
Remember, we have more in common than we don’t. I am hoping that in 2018 we highlight the importance of our universal values and generate a more productive dialogue of solidarity. Selfishness, greed, and ignorance are the major source of inequality, and I believe it is only as individuals that we can have hope for a better world where people are not suffering or neglected…. so I’m going to keep my head up. I hope that you will too.
Not wanting to be someone to leave you on a down note- remember, there’s GOOD stuff happening around the world. Here’s some examples:
Rising Global Literacy
The Ozone layer is repairing itself!
Chocolate…… that’s right, chocolate
Life expectancy has increased by 6 years since 1990
Teen pregnancies have hit record lows in the UK and US.
Public Libraries still exist!
On Harassment
I hate bullying of any kind whether it be sexual harassment, physical intimidation, body shaming, bigotry etc…. We are all on this planet together and we have to find a way to get along. I find the bond that happens between people around music cures a lot of social ills. I’ve seen it happen time and again, so I am ever more committed with each passing day to keep doing what I do.
If anybody has thoughts or suggestions that can help bring together people of different experiences… different beliefs….people of different cultures etc… please leave a post.
A word about impersonators, hackers and scammers.
It’s a crazy world right now. I am here… online, so that I can interact with fans and friends…. basically people that like my music. I figure it this way: if they like it enough, they buy a song download or a CD or a t-shirt (2018). Perhaps they laugh at a joke or find strength in some of my lyrics or a quote. That’s what I’m about.
We just heard from a fan who was badly scammed by a person pretending to be me. This kind of thing disturbs me deeply.I urge you all to please be careful. I am not going to ask you out on a date or for your telephone number; so if you do get that request, know that it’s not me. And please…. send me a note earlier than later so that we can try and stop them in a timely fashion…
Just to clarify and for future reference, below are my ONLY official social media pages. I have no reason to open up new ones and don’t intend to. Also, the only legitimate emails are the ones coming from my office which end in gregoryabbott.com
No matter what kind of challenges or difficulties or painful situations you go through in your life, we all have something deep within us that allows us to reach down and find the inner strength to get through them. ALANA STEWART
I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before… and more importantly, you’re doing something. NEIL GAIMAN
I am grateful for all of you. God Bless.
Musically yours, Gregory
