An original life…
In my life I try and follow this dictum… I’m not big on competition so I try not to focus my attention on being better than someone else, but rather focus on being the best that I can be and always work to stretch beyond my limits. I get lots of help in this pursuit. My angels are always there to help me and move me forward. Many aspects of competition I find damaging and destructive. There’s always the focus on things outside of ourselves when its inside where the real transformation and magic can occur. I would consider it a successful life if at the end of it I could see I had evolved and done the most with the gifts I’ve been given and the opportunities that have been presented to me… and I love to see other people doing the same thing in their lives. I believe each one of us is unique, and trying to be like someone else is confusing and misses the point… we should only compare ourselves to what we were formerly, and how we have progressed from there. Planning out our own lives is not only the best way to reach our goals… but the surest way of avoiding becoming an unhappy pawn in someone else’s plan.

Hello There, Gregory Abbott
If you are keeping track of me, otherwise known as “following” you’ll see I write to around the same time of year. I seem to be online viewing you..”only u” during the winter season Which is when I do my annual visit to America.
A natural native from the beautiful island of Jamaica..residing in the forgotten town of Port Antonio. A quintessential fishing port. Love waking up to the smell of sea water..but its always a thrill to visit a city with bright lights, walking through the concrete jungle of NY. My usual State to stay is NJ (Toms River) but my peeps are in the group of the unfortunate home owners, who were left homeless because of Hurricane Sandy. They have been with me in JA..until now… they have decided to forget about NJ..and set-up in Westchester County. So whats new with you? Hope I can find Rock Me Gently in stores..and I also need a new Drop Your Mask & a few of your other cds. My friends, back home requested them. So help me out here, Gregory. Send name of stores in the NY area. Last year I got a couple from JR..downtown Manhattan. This year, they are out of stock.
Hope to hear from you b4 Spring2013
Much Jamaica Love

I love Port Antonio..You should tell the world that Jamaica have the best tasting seafood. I don’t know if its the sea water or the method of preparation, but I cannot eat seafood any other country since I ate it there. My best feast was on a beach called Hellshire. I was only in Port Antonio for a day. went to a house party which was across from a fisherman’s port and we got Snapper, Butter & Parrot fish straight off the boat and the cooks clean & prepared our choice as soon as we picked out of the net. I have never seen that again. and it was so tasty..I am lickin my lips now..still remember and my visit was 10 years ago.
Wish i was there now
Enjoy yourself Cecile

Re: The Original Life
I am sure you’ve done the most with the gifts you have been given. You’re blessed with a magical voice, and the unique talent to take everyday happenings in your life and turn them into a musical wonderland. but competition is a part of life and we should all embrace the chance to compete and continue to reach for the stars. Reaching ones goals, does not mean you should stop dreaming, unless you stop breathing….and even after that, your goals..becomes another’s hope & dreams.
Lets Celebrate Life in 2013
Happy New Year, Gregory & Fans
Sincerely, Swetlana
January 3, 2013 @ 7:57 AM
This is what I am trying to get across…. yes, never stop dreaming… never stop reaching for the stars…. Competition is part of life…. but I believe the best competition is with oneself…. to always work to better ourselves…. and that its important to keep things in their proper balance. Thanks for your post.

Hi Mr Abbott
Don’t know if you would remember me, but thanks for sending updates via email. I just got back into the US..after spending over a month on the Lomani Island (Fiji) The paradise where I spent my honeymoon (got hitched 11-11-11) and met a family here, who introduced me to your music, esp Shake You Down.. It has done wonders for the romance in my marriage. I found out from my mother-in-law last year, she is a fan of yours from the 80s. She & her friends always include your music in their reunions. But it was I who told them about your guest book, which they all signed. And I see that family (The Churnacs. who told me abt the guest book) have kept in touch. We had so much fun with them in Fiji.
Peace & One Love

Giving Thanks to you Mr. Abbott… for all the times your songs have brought joy to so many people in my family..esp one particular person, I call ..’Mom -C…
You know she’s your greatest fan, but did you know she’s teaching my 3-month-old-twins, how to get hooked on your music, by using some songs as their lullaby? They won’t fall asleep, unless “Si Ti” or “I’ll Find a Way” is playing… and if they are fussing…it calms them down..eyes open wide..looking from side to side, when they hear the songs..
I think its m a r v e l o u s.
Nuff Respect!!
Nuff Blessings
Nuff Love..from all of us
December 24, 2012 @ 6:09 PM
Wow how wonderful 🙂 Thanks for sharing this. Blessings to you all and a special one to the youngsters “twins”.
March 22, 2013 @ 7:46 AM
Hi Mr. Abbott
“THE HIGHEST IN ME..GREETS THE HIGHEST IN YOU”
Sounds familiar? Sure it does… .Its your own words…. Words that I have been telling my students this term.
Remember the twins..they are doing fine at 6 months old.. and still relaxing to your songs Without You & I’ll Find A Way.
Maybe I should ask you..Do you remember me (daughter of Bruce & Evette..AND my step-mother..(CC) is your biggest fan EVER. No contest. The family send me dozens of emails looking for her, because they expected to see here on your Blog posting a reply, daily. In case you were wondering “where in the world is CC”…well she was here in Kingston with father..relaxing with the twins & my other 5 children. Their anniversary was V-Day..so I chased them away to go & relax with each other & that they did for a month, before meeting up with some family in Fl. They will be back here for Carnival in April. CC said by that time she will be teaching the twins to rock to songs like Rhyme & Reason & one of “your” favs Things That Mean The Most. The words in that song is so true. I request it on the radio stations here a lot. Did you know a politician use it as his theme song when he was campaigning? He won his seat in Parliament.
Hope you enjoyed what I wrote & I hope everything is “all good” on your side of the Universe.
Nuff Respect
Chevonne
March 22, 2013 @ 3:41 PM
Yes I remember you. What a great story…. and the best part is that the politician won his seat 🙂 Stay well… Jah be smilin…

Gregory, you see opportunity to improve oneself and that is real … it’s amazing how many people haven’t been taught this. I am drawn to people that are at peace with themselves…this was instilled in me at a very young age to understand and recognize peace in others. Loud and obnoxious people I repel from faster than a split second although I have learned that when this occurs to have a good laugh soon after and at least once a day for it is a stress reducer. During the holidays I need to turn up the prescription to once every three hours over the next few days and make observation rather than participate … it makes for a more heavenly mood. The greatest gift I have been given is to be willing to wait for certain delights that promise to be even better because of the wait … and if the delight does not arrive … it is what it is…. there will be others. Knowing this and being loved by those that love me is my greatest gift of my lifetime. Thank you for inspiring me with devotional wisdom. Happy Christmas & a Happy New Year 2013! Juanita

Mr.Abbott Humility is beautiful in any Man or Woman. That is what you have…it is a strength to recognise the talent you have is a gift!!! And not to be competitive in this world full of just that- “Competition” and focus on the Man you are inside is a strength that we should all strive for…Thank You for just being You.
December 14, 2012 @ 6:53 AM
Wow!! These words are deep, Gregory. Too deep for such a young man. Pull up on those thoughts, maybe in another 20 years, you can let that dove fly
