I’ve knownDavid Gest for decades but we only recently renewed our friendship in 2014. He had a love of R&B and Soul music like few industry promoters, having grown up next door the the Jackson family. He was an industry icon and will be missed by a great many artists as well as fans. He always put on a great show and treated the acts well. He was funny, quirky, kind, loved licorice, and liked to tell dirty jokes.
On my last tour with him, we shared a dressing room together. When the tour was ending he said “You’re going to miss me.” and I laughed. A few weeks later we were chatting on the phone and I told him he was right. I did miss him.
While the “Memphis in May”show on May 6th will go on; it will now be a memorial show. There will be many tears backstage…
Hey all. Just checking in to see how your summer is going. I just read an article that says 2015 is arecord warm weather year. I guess this means that the weather is going to get pretty crazy over the next little while……
I will be in the August 15th issue ofEntrigue Magazineso please keep a lookout for it.
On an amusing note “Shake You Down” was recently featured on the hit Canadian TV comedy series“Mr. D”. Mr. D is an awkward, but lovable teacher in the show. In one scene he’s trying to “get the girl”. When “SYD” comes on the jukebox he uses it to serenade her…. but unfortunately it doesn’t work. (and here I was thinking all this time that “SYD” was a slam dunk!! SMH 😘 ).
The “David Gest “Time of My Life” United Kingdom tour is coming up in September. I’m looking forward to working with some of the other acts on the show, and meeting some of my UK fans and friends.
You can check my“What’s New” link for the dates in the cities near you. PLEASE NOTE: I am only able to do the first week of what has now become a two week tour. So, if you’d like to see me, please keep that in mind. Thanks.
I was sitting on the dock at my marina the other day watching the sun set as sailboats peacefully drifted by. It reminded me of a wonderful article I read aboutthe importance of beautywhich I thought I’d share with you. Not personal beauty, but the beauty of what surrounds us.

Here’s my quote for this post:
You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection.
